What we collect

What we collect depends on how you use the site.

Automatically when you visit:

• IP address, plus an approximate location derived from it (country or region level)
• Browser type, device type, and operating system
• Pages visited, time on page, and the referring URL
• Currency pairs and destinations you look up

Only if you take a specific action:

• Name and email if you submit the contact form
• Email if you sign up to the newsletter

We don't collect payment information, passport details, or any sensitive personal data. There's no account to create.

How we use it

We don't use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we don't sell it to third parties. We only share it with the service providers needed to operate the site (listed below).

Where we rely on legitimate interest as a legal basis, that interest is limited to operating, securing, and improving the site in a way that doesn't override your privacy rights.

Cookies & analytics

RoamFX doesn't use tracking cookies or any analytics tools that rely on cookies or personal data. The few cookies set on the site are strictly necessary for it to function. No consent banner is shown because we only use cookies considered strictly necessary under current GDPR guidance.

For site analytics we use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't track individuals or store identifiable personal data. The full breakdown of every cookie set on this site, what each one does, and how Plausible works is on the cookies page.

Third parties

A small number of services help operate the site. Each one processes some of your data as a result.

We don't use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or social media tracking tools.

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States, using appropriate safeguards (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable).

Affiliate links

Some links on RoamFX are affiliate links. When you click one and sign up or make a purchase, we may earn a commission. The current list of affiliate partners is on the advertiser disclosure page.

Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third-party site. From that point, that site's own privacy policy applies, and they may use their own tracking. We don't share your personal data with affiliate partners ourselves, and we don't track which specific users click which affiliate links in any personally identifiable way on our end.

Affiliate relationships don't influence our editorial content or scoring data. The breakdown of how we keep the two separate is on the disclosure page.

Newsletter

If you sign up to the RoamFX newsletter, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. This data is stored in Mailchimp and used only to send you the newsletter you signed up for.

• You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
• We don't add anyone to the newsletter without explicit opt-in.
• We don't share your email address with anyone for marketing purposes.

Mailchimp is based in the USA. By subscribing, your email address is transferred to and stored on Mailchimp's servers. Mailchimp participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Their privacy policy is at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.

Your rights

Depending on where you're located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data.

• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion: ask us to delete your data. We'll do so unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
• Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Withdraw consent: if you gave consent for the newsletter, you can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing. This doesn't affect anything done before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@roamfx.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you're in the EU or UK and feel we haven't handled your request properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data retention

• Contact form submissions: kept for up to 2 years to maintain a record of past correspondence, then deleted.
• Analytics data: Plausible retains aggregate, non-personal analytics data indefinitely. No personal data or cookies are involved.
• Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your email is removed from active lists within 30 days.
• Server logs: Cloudways retains standard access logs for up to 30 days for security purposes.

Children

RoamFX isn't directed at anyone under 18. The financial products and services we reference, including currency transfer providers, require users to be 18 or older. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data through our site, email privacy@roamfx.com and we'll delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our data practices change in a meaningful way. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For significant changes, we'll post a notice on the site.

Continued use of RoamFX after a policy update means you accept the revised terms.
